WHY DOGS HATE CATS

Every society has its own myths. The bottom line is to try and understand the reasons behind how things in real life are they way they are. One such interesting Chinese myth is why dogs hate cats. Here is the story:
There lived a Chinese family, the Wang family. One winter, there was serious food shortage that resulted from a number of factors- Ming-li, the son had caught pneumonia, thus more money was spent on medicine, and worse still, his father had fallen ill, and had been sacked. Unfortunately, he died a short while later.
The bereaved family was left in dire poverty. They lived on crumbs. However, Ming-li always stayed hopeful, and went out daily searching for work, so as to get food for his family. He hoped to get some copper which he could sell, if work evaded him completely, invoking his belief in the provision of the gods. Other victims of this dire food shortage were two pets- a dog and a cat named Blackfoot and Whitehead respectively.
One day, an old bald priest passed by and Ming-Li’s mother almost sent him off highlighting their plight. However, the priest was adamant. He showed her a golden beetle and told her that it was a gift from the god of filial conduct, who had noted her sons’ goodness. On seeing it, Mrs. Wang was very excited. She thought that she could be sold for some good money that would be used to buy millet that could sustain them for a few days. However, the priest informed her that the beetle was not to be sold, as it had brought good fortune to them- it could feed them. All she needed to do was boil some water in a pot, put the beetle inside and mention all the food she wanted. She would then cover the pot for about 3 minutes.

Mrs. Wang was ready to test this new solution. She thanked the priest. She was advised to try it out when the priest left. Immediately, she followed the instructions, and in a while, the pot was full of dumplings, which she had requested. She gluttonously ate and fed her two pets. This was quite unusual. When Mingli came back home, he found his mother extremely excited. In a little while, there was food for him, and his mother couldn’t wait to explain. The two pets were fed with all the remainders of food, an unknown phenomenon in the Wang family.
The Wang household became replete with all sorts of food and they all grew fat and lazy. Mrs. Wang began to invite friends over to enjoy her delicious food. One day, Mr. and Mrs. Chu came over and they stole the golden beetle. When Mrs.Wang came back home that evening, her treasure was gone. This was marked beginning of sliding back to their previous lifestyle, where they had survived on.
Hunger drove the pets to the streets looking for left-over bones and morsels. Interestingly, Whitehead began to look excited and Blackfoot wondered what he was up to. Whitehead had actually seen Mrs.Chu steal the beetle. They hatched a plan to retrieve it.
When they got to the Chu’s, a big rat helped them retrieve it, with a promise that Whitehead would not feast on her. On their way back, Blackfoot swam across a river with Whitehead on his back. Whitehead was distracted by a fish and he let go of the good fortune as he dived to get the fish.Blackfoot helped him retrieve the fortune.
When they got home, Blackhead was tricked into waiting outside, while Whitehead went inside. The latter got the best food, while the former got thinner and thinner. Angered, Blackhead killed Whitehead and called the other dogs to witness the results of selfishness.
This is the story that the Chinese use to try and understand the animosity between these two pets that we like to have in our homes.

Origami : Amazing Art Of Paper Folding

Origami (from ori meaning "folding", and kami meaning "paper" (kami changes to gami due to rendaku) is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding, which started in the 17th century AD at the latest and was popularized outside of Japan in the mid-1900s. It has since then evolved into a modern art form. The goal of this art is to transform a flat sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques, and as such the use of cuts or glue are not considered to be origami. Paper cutting and gluing is usually considered kirigami.

Rare Psychotic Hallucinations

The many documented cases of strange delusions and neurological syndromes can offer a window into how bizarre the brain can be.

It may seem that hallucinations are random images that appear to some individuals, or that delusions are thoughts that arise without purpose. However, in some cases, a specific brain pathway may create a particular image or delusion, and different people may experience the same hallucination.

In recent decades, with advances in brain science, researchers have started to unravel the causes of some of these conditions, while others have remained a mystery.

Here is a look at seven odd hallucinations, which show that anything is possible when the brain takes a break from reality.

Testing For Gossip

In ancient Greece, Socrates was reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem. One day an acquaintance met the great philosopher and said, “Do you know what I just heard about your friend?”

“Hold on a minute”, Socrates replied. “Before telling me anything I’d like you to pass a little test. It’s called the Triple Filter Test.”

“Triple filter?”

“That’s right”, Socrates continued. “Before you talk to me about my friend, it might be a good idea to take a moment and filter what you’re going to say. That’s why I call it the triple filter test. The first filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?”

“No,”,the man said, “Actually I just heard about it and …”

“All right”, said Socrates. “So you don’t really know if it’s true or not. Now let’s try the second filter, the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my friend something good?”

“No, on the contrary.”

“So”, Socrates continued, “you want to tell me something bad about him, but you’re not certain it’s true. You may still pass the test though, because there’s one filter left: the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my friend going to be useful to me?”

“No, not really.”

“Well”, concluded Socrates, “if what you want to tell me is neither true nor good nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?”

Best Beaches In The World

Wide sandy beaches, popular, busy beaches, secluded beaches—for most of us, the best beach is a soft white sandy beach, with a crystal clear blue sea lapping in a gentle breeze, on which our worries waft away. Beaches are all about escape. Holidays revolve around them—other than the hotel, the most important part of many holidays is the beach. So it's important to get the beach right. When planning your holiday, think about what sort of beach you want - because, after all, beaches come in many flavours. Some are busy, so jam-packed with lilos and deck chairs and windbreakers that you will be hard pressed to find space after 10 in the morning. Others are difficult to get to, but well worth it when you do. Is the hotel 'near' the beach, or on the beach? And is there a main road in front of it, between you and the beach?
So be clear—and do your research. Sand quality is also important. The distance between Barbados and St Lucia may only be a few hundred miles, but one is black, volcanic sand, while the other is soft and white. Tarifa has windy beaches, so windy the sand can whip painfully around your legs—while Norfolk has low, flat, wet beaches - ideal for riding and walking, not so easy to swim from.

Given all this variety, there is of course no such thing as 'the best beach in the world'—though it's fun to make lists. In any case, probably 95% of the world's beaches are unknown to the journalists who write these lists. But the quest for the perfect beach remains a powerful pull for most of us. Go on holiday and find your own—and then let us know, if you can bear to share your secret.

Ghost Hunting

Ghost hunting is the process of investigating locations that are reported to be haunted by ghosts. Typically, a ghost hunting team will attempt to collect evidence that they see as supportive of paranormal activity. Ghost hunters often utilize a variety of electronic equipment, such as the following types: the EMF meter; digital thermometer; handheld and static digital video cameras, such as thermographic (or infrared) and night vision; digital audio recorder; and computer.

Traditional techniques such as conducting interviews and researching the history of a site are also employed. Some ghost hunters refer to themselves as a paranormal investigator.[1] Ghost hunting has been criticized for its absence of scientific method; no scientific body has been able to confirm the existence of ghosts. Ghost hunting is officially classified as a pseudoscience

These are the gadgets used for ghost hunting.

Jashin Religion{Jashinism}

It is popular belief that Jashinism started on the island of Shikoku of Japan during the late Jomon period (14000 BC-300 BC) to the early Nara period (710 AD-794AD). But many believe that Jashinism originated in the anime/manga Naruto. They claim there to be no evidence of its existance before the seires.

In 1918, a book entitled Inshi to Jashin (translation: Shrine of Jashin) by Tetsujo Wada
was published. Some believe this to be proof that Jashinism predates Naruto.

The following is a section from a Shinto encyclopedia which many believe refers to Jashin:
"In the countryside Konpira was worshipped as a serpent kami (Jashin) as a rusugami. IN this way many permutations of the cult developed, including belief in the kami's protection of lielihood, healing of illness, and preventing disaster and welcoming prosperity (josai shofuku)."

It is even rumored that there are still two Jashinist temples still standing in Japan today.

Several modern day Jashinists have even had the pleasure of communicating with WWII veterans who also practiced Jashinism.

In an ineterview with Naruto author MIisashi Kishimoto, he told his interviewer that Jashin was based on an ancient form of Shintoism that focused on the worship of human emotion above all else. Shintoism lacks a solid doctrinal system and yet is practiced by many and is the tenth largest religion in the world. Practices of Shintoism vary in different parts of the world.

There is evidence that Jashinism is anceint, there is evidence that it is something new. But in my own opinion it does not matter if Jashinism is old or new, or if Jashin is an actual god or a philososhy. What matters is that Jashinism is a part of the world now and that we were fortunate enough to have found it. The past is the past and is only a guide for which we can learn from. How Jashinism truly originated to me holds no significance. What matters is the present and how we can shape the future through our Lord and create a better world.
